4 Reasons Shorter is Better in Fundraising

We would recommend running a fundraiser a minimum of ten days and no longer than two weeks. Allow for your fundraiser to span at least two weekends. While you may be tempted to extend the deadline for 3 or 4 months, here are four reasons you should keep it short!

1. Focus Your Efforts

By keeping your fundraiser shorter, you will dedicate your effort in a small time frame and in turn you will be more likely to have good results. Keeping a fundraiser quick requires group members to participate without procrastination!

2. Keep the Momentum Going

The longer the fundraiser, the harder it is for people to stay engaged. A two week fundraiser is the right amount of time to raise awareness and sell your product.

3. Create Urgency

Everyone is busy! Many people may have the best intentions to show their support, but if they think they have two or three months to do so, they may simply wait or forget and not donate. Also, a sense of urgency helps create excitement!

4. Your Time is Valuable!

Which Fundraiser Is Right For You?

Christy Forhan wrote a great article on how to choose the right fundraiser. Consider these three questions…

1. How much money do you need to raise?

2. How soon do you need the money?
